Shortly after my tranny project it was decided that the rear end needed doing as well. Turns out after parking it at a friend's house, the next day it wouldnt budge and when we got it apart we found two and a half broken pinion teeth.
Ordered up a new DANA Powrlock unit and as a result of my neverending problem trying to find 32 spline axles, we ordered new 35 spline axles instead which of course is better anyhow! About ten times the unit was in and out of the housing getting it shimmed right and we had to grind off 1/8th of an inch off the spline ends of each axle to make them fit best. So far im very happy with the desicion to spend a couple extra bux on a posi instead of an economical one wheel banana peeler. Along with the newer tires and the weight of the deck it gets amazing traction and no chirping around the corners. Also, after some investigating as to why my new pinion seal was a leaker i found the breather hose was plugged solid as well as the metal tube that screws into the housing top that the hose slides over. Once those were clear theres been no leaks or problems since.
