Thanks for the map. I still can't come though. Too bad.
I know this is not related but I have to tell someone. My 1959 Mazda P/U fired up tonight. First time the engine has run since 1972 and it sounds pretty good. Yahoo!

Good to hear that there is at least a tiny candle lit once again under this topic. We're not much help on this side of the hump since all of the organization and meetings happen in Creston but once the ball starts rolling we'll hopefully be able to help out in any way possible.

Once again it seems like a lack of leadership is the biggest crux.

Hi guys;

I'm the Operations Manager of the Creston Airport. I have been checking into starting drag racing out here. Here are some of the snags I've run into:
1) Cost of Insurance - I am currently still gathering some quotes along with Beaumont_68.
2) Volunteers - We would need about 30 volunteers for a one day event. This does not include fire and ambulance crews that HAVE to be on scene.
3) Burn out Box - We need to have this so as not to damage the runway. Burnouts will melt the tarmac. Still working on size and thickness, then the cost of getting one poured.
4) Air Ambulance - This will be the biggest snag by far. On average, we get about 4 to 6 per month. A one day event will close the strip for 1.5 days. 4 hours to set up, race, then 4 hours to tear down and make sure all is clean.

I would think that if we can get the air ambulance thing figured out, we may have a chance to get this up and running. I have spoken to the local RCMP detachment, and there is nothing pending from a legal standpoint. I have also talked with Ron Toyota and he is all for it as well. Osoyoos is very much on board and willing to send cars out to create interest. i have the support of SOME of the board members, as this was their suggestion.

So there you have it. You are all now "up to speed" on how things are going. Keep your fingers crossed, boys and let's hope we can get this thing "rolling".

It's at 7 pm on Wednesday, March 13. Location is Bob's shop 1215 - 15 Ave. S. Goat River Bottom (off Hwy. 21). Second to last driveway on the right - ugly metal fence, shop is on the immediate right side of the driveway.

Hi guys. I know this is an old thread but has there been any headway made on this project? I know of at least 2 sleds and a couple of cars from this area that usually travel to Kelowna or Osoyoos for racing. I know they would love to do something around here.

I believe there has not been any progress. Last I heard, it was a no go.

Bob?
